About Charlie Hopkinson
Full Name/Title: Charlie Hopkinson.
Role at Kariandusi School Trust: Trustee.
About you: Life long overlander and lover of Africa. Having travelled across Africa for 5 years in the 1980s, Charlie returned to the UK to try to make a living out of his love of travel. With the two others owners of Dragoman, Charlie has spent the last twenty-seven years building Dragoman into the leading overland adventure travel company. Dragoman’s Responsible Travel ethos has meant that the organisation has developed strong relationships with communities throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America by involving them in their tours. Five years ago Dragoman joined forces with the Kariandusi School Trust, by using the schools and the building projects as a key element to some of their East African programmes. As a director of Dragoman, Charlie has given Kariandusi School Trust a fund raising platform and has used Dragoman’s extensive contacts to raise the profile and public awareness of Kariandusi School Trust. He has also been responsible for helping to raise a considerable amount of funds through various local fund raising events, and cycle expeditions to Kenya.
How you aim to help Kariandusi School Trust?: By continuing the networking and fundraising, and using Dragoman to continue to spread the word, Charlie hopes that his enthusiasm and ideas will make up for his lack of time as a solid commitment to Kariandusi School Trust for the next five years!
