Dragoman Overland

Dragoman Overland is an adventure travel company that runs tours and holidays from 2 to 40 weeks across Africa, Asia and Latin America. They run mixed hotel and camping holidays with a strong ethos of Responsible Tourism. They also run family adventures in East and Southern Africa, Morocco and Peru.

In November 2003, they teamed up with the Kariandusi School Trust to help with with the projects. In the last two years both the Kariandusi School and the Langalanga School have been visited by numerous Dragoman groups.

Any travellers journeying in East Africa on one of Dragoman Overland's trips will spend time helping out at one of the KST projects.

The following trips visit the projects.
5-week Africa East & South journey from Nairobi to Victoria Falls
16 night East Africa Overland & Zanzibar from Nairobi to Dar
16 night East African Family Adventure from nairobi to Dar

These groups have stayed overnight at the campsite that the community has especially prepared for them. Everyone, from the children, the local community and the travellers have really enjoyed these working visits. Songs, stories, local foods are a stable of the visit and in return the groups’ roll up their sleeves and help out in a variety of tasks. A Dragoman forest has been planted, a fence surrounding the whole site is being put up and numerous other tasks funded by the group, including a water pump to keep water flowing to the construction site.

To date Dragoman Overland, the passengers and the directors have raised somewhere in the region of £5000 - £6000 for the ongoing development of this school.

A Poem of Thanks from the Kids

This poem was written by Samuel Kamau Kamau, Kenneth Kimani, Peter Njdroge, Tabitha Unang'eri, Catherine Wanjiku and Pauline Wanjiku

From far you have come,
To our land you are welcome,
Thanks for the determination,
To make ours a better place.

For long did we live
In desperate need and hopelessness
A new start did you bring
A remarkable transformation to our people.

Thanks for your compassion,
Your tireless efforts are highly appreciated.
Thanks for your facilities,
That aid academic excellence.

Every eye can see,
The marvellous works of your efforts.
With unblockable ink has your name been written,
In every heart of our people.

Long live DRAGOMAN, the glow worm of Kariandusi
