Consistently "giving something back" is a concept embraced by the selfless few. There are - very simply put - many with a great need and a few whose over whelming generosity is priceless. The following words are all very carefully chosen to try to create a picture of the heavy fog of Kenyan poverty, and a kitchen table charity which is cutting through and making a real difference.
I recently visited Kenya for two days, arriving in Nairobi on a Monday morning and returning to London on a Tuesday evening. A short trip, that has left a powerful impression.

Paul Jones, a teacher at Great Whelnetham CEVC Primary School in Suffolk, successfully and against the odds, ran the London marathon in April this year, raising £744.20 (+Gift Aid) for the Ngeteti Primary School in Kenya - one of our 9 Kariandusi School Trust schools. A marathon takes an amazing amount of commitment whenever it is undertaken. Paul managed to put in the necessary long, hard hours of practice through one of the longest, hardest, coldest winters we have seen for years. That, in itself deserves a medal!...

The kids of Debenham, Suffolk (UK) completed their 24 hour Musicathon.
It was a phenomenal effort and very impressive. Young teenagers can be brilliant!
Their talents ranged from sublime undiscovered voices to someone absolutely massacring 'Yesterday' on a cello... but they kept going the whole time. Wonderful.

In February 2009 I visited Gilgil - only my second visit to Kenya.
The main purpose of my trip was to meet Kenneth Kimani, our spondee. Kenneth had finished his four years of secondary school and was expecting his KCSE results. After four years of correspondence it was an emotional moment to meet him face to face. He is a fine and charming young Kenyan – the third of eleven children - and a credit to his mother and to the Langalanga Scholarship Fund...
