The Commitment
This is another huge project for KST, as the catchment area is large and so the school needs to be developed as a double stream school to house 640 pupils.

The school is situated in an inhospitable area in a semi arid region of Kenya on the floor of the Gt Rift Valley. It is further away from local facilities and major roads and so the timescale for work will also have to take into account the sate of the roads, especially in the rainy season.

The school plans and concept will be similar to Simba but involves a major upgrade of the existing school and large extension.

Future Development
While Harry and Alison V-C were out in Kenya in September 2006, they gathered together the School Committee of Murindati, to break the news that KST now had enough money for a complete refurbishment of the existing school and for the development of some new classrooms.

KST are pleased to announce that the Title Deeds are now secured. The Ground Breaking Ceremony was on 23 January 2007 when Alison V- C, was the Guest of Honour. The occasion as also used to award Langalanga Scholarship Funds (LLSF) scholarships to pupils from Murindati and neighbouring sister schools.

Funding
This school has been fully funded by a very generous international oil company. Our sincere thanks to them for their incredibly generous donation.

Weekly Progress

To illustrate the weekly progress at Murindati Primary School, we are including a few extracts from the ongoing weekly reports of the Kenyan project manager, Mathenge Ndiritu.

“Slab concrete started today. The piped water has proved unreliable and the community are gladly filling in the deficit. No problems at all.”

“As indicated in my last report, concrete slab was cast and completed during the week to the six classrooms, administration including library and staffroom. Walls were set out and started coming up slight problem with water persists.”

“2000' of 9''x9'' stones have been delivered and dressers started work on them this morning. Am sure there should be enough in about a month.”

“We have at least 300 of the 400 posts required for fencing. The reason why these posts have taken a little longer is our specifications. The ones available in the local yards are so thin and may easily give way to zebras.”
