African Queen Ball is a Huge Success...... Announcement of the KST Food for Thought Programme
More than 200 enthusiastic Kariandusi School Trust supporters cast all recession worries to the wind, demonstrating their unswerving generosity and wholehearted commitment to the education of Kenyan children at the African Queen Ball held in Trinity Park, Ipswich, on Saturday 6th November.
The staggering figure of £16,000 was surpassed as guests keenly competed for fabulous auction prizes with the eye-catching Simon keeping tight control of proceedings and warmly encouraging ever higher bids.
Whilst the irrepressible Charlie Hopkinson gave us all reasons to celebrate.......the two new beautiful primary schools recently handed over to the communities with two more 'work in progress', and the ambitious plans for KST's first secondary school....... he seized the opportunity to announce the exciting and much needed project to transform the lives of Kenyan pupils - the KST Food For Thought programme

for which WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP !
During a recent visit, Trustees heard the same sad story from all the KST Headmasters...... that many pupils - some of whom walk more than 10km to school without breakfast - spend all day at school with nothing to eat before walking home for their one meal of the day. The idea that hungry children can learn anything much on one meal a day is insane. Food For Thought is our attempt to redress this issue and to raise standards amongst the children.
OUR AIM is to provide a simple meal of maize and beans to the children in our schools which, for some, will be their only meal of the day.
HOW MUCH ? It costs less than the price of your daily newspaper to pay for the food for one child...... only £1 a week or 20p each school day.
HOW YOU CAN HELP.... please help us provide school meals for the children by going to the link below and clicking on the hand to set up a standing order for £4 per month or a single payment of £50 a year.

And remember.... every single penny of your donation will be spent on the food programme.
